Margaret Jane Mackey, 97, of Traverse City, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at home with her family by her side.  She was born January 3, 1927, in Suttons Bay, the daughter of Joseph and Molly (Fehrenbach) Zeffero.

Margaret is survived by: her children, Debbie (Jim) Poling of Traverse City, Anne (Dan) Schultz of Alabama, Linda (Keith) Fisk of South Carolina, Charlie (Jan) Mackey of Traverse City, and Dan (Sandy) Mackey of Traverse City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

On January 14, 1950, Margaret married Milford Charles Mackey who preceded her in death on March 13, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by: her parents; sons, Jack Joseph Mackey, Edward James Mackey, and Jerry Lee Mackey; grandson, Tyler Mackey; and great-granddaughter, Quinn Barrett.

The family would like to thank Jim and Debbie Poling for making Margaret's last wish come true.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union Street, Traverse City, Michigan  49684, with the Rev. Michael Linguar celebrant.  A luncheon will follow at the church and interment will take place in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 511 S. Garfield Avenue, Traverse City, Michigan  49686, where Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will lead the Rosary at 5:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held from 11:00 AM until time of Mass at the church on Thursday.

Due to Margaret's lifelong love of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Kelly's Kritters, 4470 Norton Road, Grawn, Michigan  49637.
