Margaret Celeste Shamel, 68, of Traverse City, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Munson Medical Center.  She was born April 11, 1954, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Lester and Christina (Hayes) Stacey.

Margaret was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family.  She enjoyed flowers and reading.  She was an avid bowler, a hobby she shared with her entire family.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Rodney Shamel, sons: John (AKA Richard), Chris, and Matt (Kit); her granddaughter, Leilani; step kids, Jennifer and Joseph (Miriam); brothers, Greg and Floyd (Tanya).  As well as the many others she cared for as her own kids.

Private services will be held for the family and friends at a later date.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
