Marilyn Ardra Cowles, 93, of Whitehall, passed away July 20, 2020. She was born September 20, 1926, in Battle Creek, the daughter of William and Mildred (Beagle) Hoxie.

Marilyn enjoyed crafts, such as crocheting, knitting, and sewing, often making hats, slippers, and mittens for all the children during the winter months. She loved camping and fishing, going to the casino, playing bingo, and cooking for others. Marilyn served as President of the Don Rea VFW Post #8846 Ladies Auxiliary, in North Muskegon, for two terms.

Marilyn is survived by: her children, Cathy Arnouts, Timothy (Sue) Cowles, and Bill (Pat) Cowles; grandchildren, Angie (Jesse) DeLaRosa, Amy (Keith) Wilks, Teresa (Steve) Rogers, Jason (Candi) Barnhard, Raegan Cowles, Brooke Cowles, Justin Cowles, Matthew (Devon) Cowles, James (Krystal) Cowles, Troy (Camry) Cowles, and Christopher (Lisa) Vanderlaan; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard Hoxie; as well as nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by: her parents; husband of 35 years, James Cowles; brother, William (Pat) Hoxie; sister, Bev (Bill) Woller; sister-in-law, Cathy Hoxie; and son-in-law, Jerry Arnouts.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Laketon Township Cemetery, 620 Horton Road, Muskegon.
