Marilyn Irene (Goerres) Curran, 87, of Whitehall, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023. She was born December 14, 1935, in Blue Island, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth (Lerner) Goerres.

Marilyn Goerres and Thomas Curran were married on June 1, 1957, in Chicago, IL. They lived in Illinois until 1969, when they moved to Denver, CO. Thomas preceded Marilyn in death on February 10, 1978. Marilyn was also preceded by her parents, and her brother, Raymond Goerres.

Marilyn graduated from Bennett School in Chicago, in 1949. She worked as a bank teller for several years before marrying and raising a family. In later years, she worked in jewelry and kitchen supply retail, and co-owned a retail kitchen supply store at the Hot Springs Mall in Hot Springs, AR. Marilyn moved to Hot Springs in 1985 to be close to her parents. Marilyn then moved to Whitehall, MI in 1997.

Marilyn enjoyed sewing, baking, her kitties, Molly and Bubba, and especially time with her family. She was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by: Marguerite (Dudley) Straubel, Muskegon, MI; Edward (Susan) Curran, Parker, CO; James Curran (Jessie McLauchlan), Casper, WY; grandchildren, Angeline (Aaron Dean); Deirdre Adams; Andrew, Matthew, Marcus, Jenna, Jamie, and Britney Curran; two great grandchildren, Fiona and Asa Dean; and her kitty Bubba.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church or Faithful to Felines.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 25, at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling Street, Montague, MI 49437, with Fr. Norm Droski presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday, April 24, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, and Tuesday, April 25, from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Montague, following the service.
