Marion Elvira McNabb, age 89, of Winter Haven, FL died of Alzheimer's disease Saturday November 29, 2008. She spent the last ten days in the Good Shepard Hospice in Lakeland Florida. Her passing was very quiet and comfortable with no pain. She was born in Iron River Michigan with a twin sister Alice on April 26, 1919. Her mother died in child birth. When she was twelve years old she and her sister were moved to Royal Oak Michigan by their father who had remarried. There she entered Royal Oak High School graduating in 1936. At the same time she joined Royal Oak United Methodist Church and sang in their choirs until she married Warren McNabb on December 8, 1939. At first she tried working but as Warren said "She didn't make enough to pay for her clothes", so she quit and became a full time homemaker for both her home and her father's. She enjoyed home making and in the process raised three daughters and one son. When the children were more or less on their own, she looked for a hobby and settled on working with ceramics. She became quite proficient and gave many beautiful pieces to family and friends. She is survived by her husband Warren of 69 years, Three daughters Carol Sue Hutchinson (Robert) of Winter Haven, Janet Elaine Lyle (John) of Matawan New Jersey, Charlene Louise Miotke (Rick) of Grosse Pointe Michigan and Charles Edwin McNabb(Deborah) of Grand Rapids Michigan, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Two memorial services are planned. One at Trinity United Methodist Church in Winter Haven and the other at the First United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids which will be held Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Research Association or Good Shepherd Hospice of Florida.
