Marjorie Eloise Hanna, 93, of Traverse City passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 after a two-year battle with bladder cancer.
Marjorie (Hines)Hanna was born on Aug. 5, 1927 in Richmond, Ky. to Ether (Tuttle) and Floyd Hines. She attended school in Hudson.
On Dec. 18, 1943, she was wed to Gaylord Hanna at the Hudson Methodist Church. They were married for 72 years. Marjorie and Gaylord raised three children and was a stay-at-home mother. She was involved in being a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, member of the PTA and youth group counselor for Hudson Methodist Church and the Church of God when they lived in Arizona. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the American Women Bowlers.
In 1964 they moved to Delaware, Ohio where she started White House Antiques. Her shop sold many beautiful antiques and collectibles. In early 2006 they moved to Traverse City to be close to their daughter.
Marjorie is survived by one sister, Naomi Myers; her children, Dr. Raymond (Candy) Hanna, of Ann Arbor, Carole (Roger) Merillat, of Empire, and Dr. Lawrence (Cheryl) Hanna, of Marysville, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren, Eric Merillat and Karen Farmer, Colleen (Jay) Raymond, Travis (Deborah) Hanna, Ben Hanna, Linsey Hanna and Ryan Hanna; and nine great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaylord; brother, Leo Hines; sister, Lois Olson; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held later in spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
