Marshall F. Mattis II, of Ludington, died July 29, 2018, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus Grand Rapids. Marshall has joined those loved ones who have gone before him, his loving wife, Marcia Joy (Fearnow) Mattis; daughter, Cheryl; son, Joesph; mother, father, sister and many in-laws. Surviving sons, Roger, Marshall III, daughter in-law Katy, granddaughter Kelly, special sister in-law (and best friend) Evelyn Fearnow, sisters, Daisy Du Perron, and Dorothy Smogoleski, plus many nieces and nephews and adopted grandchildren.
Marshall left high school prior to graduation due to circumstances beyond his control. This did not stop him from completing his education. Marshall graduated from Scottville High School and continued his education by taking courses at both West Shore Community College and Michigan State University.
Marshall wore many hats during his lifetime, some of which included service in the US Army Airborne, serving in Japan, he also served as Pere Marquette Township Supervisor, Zoning and Building Administrator. He was a self-taught carpenter, working on many notable projects. Marshall was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 76 in Ludington, Amvets Post 1988, also a member of VFW Post 5315, Eagles Lodge 1354 –P.W.P. and Golden Eagle. Marshall loved life and those he loved! He enjoyed playing the guitar and jamming with friends. He also enjoyed the Legion and his friends.
Private services of committal will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, Ludington, is in charge of arrangements.
