Marvin proudly served his country for over nine years in the United States Navy, including time aboard the USS Yorktown CV-10.
Upon returning from his military service, he met Alice (Roleen) Rennie, a local girl, and their love story led to their marriage on May 7, 1955. Together, they journeyed through life for 68 years, raising their two daughters, Linda and Constance. Marvin was a devoted husband and a caring father. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, culinary skills, and a love for golf.
Marvin actively contributed to his community through various organizations, including the Elk Rapids Volunteer Fire Department, Elk Rapids Sportsman Club, and the Elk Rapids Golf Club, for 58 years. Marvin served on the Board of Directors for many of those years and was president and general manager for 14 years. In his younger years, he was a member of two bowling leagues, Town Club and Zupin Oil Company. He also held the honor of being a charter member of Amvets Post #114 and was a faithful member of the Feast of Victory Lutheran Church.
