Mary Jo Butcher, 84, of Hart, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Mercy Health Mercy Campus, in Muskegon. She was born July 4, 1933, in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Maurice and Jessie (Shepherd) Marsh.
Mary Jo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who in addition to being born on the 4th of July was a true firecracker. She was always the life of the party and will be deeply missed. Mary Jo enjoyed playing golf, taking care of her dogs and the winters she was able to spend in Lakeland, Florida.
Mary Jo is survived by: two daughters, Susan (Garth) Larson of Hart and Barbara (Erik) Johnson of Manistee; two sons, Mark (Kay) Butcher of Hart and Karl (Betty Rangel) Butcher of Hart; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Matt) Devitt, Angie (David) Wilkinson, Scott Butcher, Sarah (Mohamed) Elgamal, Ashley (Adam) Jacques, Daniel (Gyu Jin Lim) Johnson, Samantha (Zachary) Samuels and Nathan Butcher; 7 great-grandchildren, Colton James Samuels, Stella Mae Samuels, Zayden Smith, Aubri Devitt, Holly Elgamal, Taylor Wilkinson, Ethan Wilkinson and one on the way.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dr. Kenneth R. Butcher in 2017; and her sisters, Marilyn Skilliter and Audrey Powers.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 N. 72nd Avenue, Hart, with Pastor Thomas Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
