Our beloved wife and mother, Mary Kay Cargill, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 16, 2023. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Mary Kay will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary Kathleen Cargill was born September 12, 1948, in Hart, to Thomas and Kathleen (Roche) Foster. She was raised in Hart, along with her five siblings. After graduation, Mary Kay attended and graduated from Western Michigan University. She would continue her education and earn two master's degrees.
Throughout Mary Kay's life she was known for her caring nature and shared that as a teacher. Mary Kay taught in Cedar Springs Public School System for thirty one years, retiring in 2001. Her professional accomplishments and love for her students made a lasting impact on the Cedar Springs Community.
She will be lovingly and forever remembered and missed by her family, friends, and thousands of students that were inspired by her.
Mary Kay is survived by: her husband of 50 years, Harley; daughter, Sarah (Geoff) Schultz; sons, Thomas (Jayme) Cargill and Craig (Melissa) Cargill; sisters, Nancy (Robert) Grady and Sue (Jim) Lamie; brothers, John (Beth) Foster and Stewart Foster; sisters-in-law, Linda Foster and Mary Cargill; brother-in-law, Jerry Cargill; many nieces and nephews; seven beautiful grandchildren; and a soon-to-be great-grandchild.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by: her parents, Thomas and Kathleen (Roche) Foster; in-laws, Jerry and Mary Cargill; brother, Thomas; and sister-in-law Arlene Cargill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Springs Education Foundation, 204 E Muskegon Street, Cedar Springs, MI 49319, or to Hospice of Lenawee, 1903 Wolf Creek Hwy. Adrian, MI 49221.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Gaslight Village of Adrian and to Hospice of Lenawee County. Your love and unwavering support for Mary Kay was phenomenal.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 214 South Peach Avenue, Hart MI 49420, with Father Phil Sliwinski presiding, and a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72nd Avenue, Hart MI 49420, and Friday, one hour prior to services at the church.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
