IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Theresa
Chevalier
March 23, 1930 – March 25, 2023
Mary Theresa Chevalier, 93, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023. She was born March 23, 1930, the daughter of William and Anne (Daley) Sullivan.
Mary graduated at the top of her class from St Charles Catholic High School in Detroit. She received her associate's degree in Accounting from Walsh College. Her work life was put on hold to do what she loved most in life, raise and spend time with her eight children. When she returned to the work-force, she quickly advanced as one of four managers of a Sears store in Roseville.
Mary had a zest for life and for lifelong learning. She was an excellent seamstress, making many of the clothes in her wardrobe as well as many dresses for her four girls. Mary was also an accomplished pianist, performing her first concert in Detroit at the age of nine. In her later years she took up bowling and crocheting. Until a few years ago, she bowled on teams three times a week, often with her daughter, Yvonne. Mary had many friends who along with family members are proud owners of her special unique Afghans. Although she loved her many activities, including her visits to the casino, Mary often said her greatest love was being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her loving companion dog, Juliette.
Mary is survived by: her children, Michael, David, Theresa (Greg) Dorchak, Yvonne (Bruce) Essex, Julie Byrd, Timothy (Amy), Gregory (Melissa), and Bernadette (Tom) Livernois; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. William Sullivan Sr.; sister, Anne Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents, William F. Sullivan RPh, and Anne (Daley) Sullivan; and sisters, Helen Leonard and Loretta Nebel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling Street, Montague, MI 49437, with Fr. Peter Omogo presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, April 3, 2023, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, and Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
