Mary Rose Burr (Jager), 62, of Whitehall, Michigan, made her journey to the Spirit World in the early morning hours of July 22, 2026.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice; father, Benjamin; brother, David; grandmother, Rose; nephews, David and Allen; and her love, Donnie.

She is survived by her 3 children, Linda, Bernice, and John; 12 grandchildren, Eric, Tyler, Shay, Bre, Jade, Ciara, Brooklyn, Damien, Alexander, Aiyana (Anna), John Jr. (Jon), and Arianna; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ben and John; 1 sister, Barbara; her nieces and nephews; her stepfather, Tom; her significant other; and stepchildren.

Mary took great pride in her Native American heritage and her Odawa and Chippewa (Ojibwe) roots, and she deeply loved her powwow family.

Mary was a woman with a big heart, a big personality, and a spirit that was impossible to forget. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and had a way of making even the smallest moments into memories that will be remembered for years.

A service to honor Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
