Mary Lou Szejbach, 76, of Elk Rapids, died suddenly Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.  She was born June 1945, in Traverse City, the daughter of Edward and Loretta (Bobolz) Szejbach.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Elk Rapids.  She was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church, in Elk Rapids, where she was involved in the CLCW and had previously served on the church council; and she also enjoyed quilting with the ladies of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids.  The most important thing in Mary's life was her family.  She cherished her nieces and nephews. Aunt Mary was always in the stands or on the sidelines of their sporting events, and she could always be counted on to babysit or offer advice and support.

Mary is survived by: her siblings, Carolyn (Bill) Boals of Elk Rapids and Clarence "Sonny" (Christine) Szejbach of Kewadin; her nieces and nephews, Rhonda (Dan) Adams, Bonnie (Aaron) Steele, Jennifer (Shawn) Kellogg, Corinna (Brad) Balentine, Lisa (Matt) Claflin, and Amy (John) Schichtel; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at a later date.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Elk Rapids Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
