Mathew John Mazeika, 84, of Ludington, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on July 1, 2024. Matt was born in February 12, 1940, in Detroit, to Veronica and Matthew Mazeika, the oldest of five boys.
Except for a brief time in Texas and two years in the army, Matt lived in Mason County nearly his entire life. He worked a variety of jobs, including: auto paint and body work, the Carferries, the Foundry, Stokely's and finally 27 years at Jackson Jordan/Harsco Rail. Matt was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being in the woods during the fall. He spent much of his free time building and repairing firearms, making knives using deer antlers for handles, and making and carving canes. Whether it was just a drive in the country or a road trip to Florida to see his children, Matt enjoyed traveling and spending time with Barb.
