Matthew Berumen

Matthew Berumen, 43, of Pentwater, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at his home. He was born June 28, 1982, in Edinburg, Texas, the son of Jose and Eva (Luevano) Berumen.

Matt was a kind hearted man. Despite his illness, he always wanted to help others. He was adored by his son and his cousins who looked up to him. Matt enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, or his favorite, grilling. Prior to his illness, he was an owner/operator of his own trucking company, which he was very proud of.

Matt is survived by his son, who was his pride and joy, Matthew Berumen, Jr.; father, Jose A. Berumen; siblings, Eva (Victor) Reyna and Emanuel (Eva) Berumen; nieces and nephews, Xitlali Reyna, Regina Lebron, Steven Lebron, and Lisa Lebron; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Matt was preceded in death by: his mother, Eva L. Berumen; paternal grandparents, Jose A. Berumen, Sr. and Maria Guadalupe Berumen; maternal grandparents, Jose Tereso Luevano and Estanislada Luevano; and several aunts and uncles.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 214 South Peach Avenue, Hart, MI 49420, with Fr. Juan Palomar presiding. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72nd Avenue, Hart, MI 49420, with a praying of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in North Weare Cemetery, Pentwater.

Memorial contributions may be made to his son, Matthew Berumen, Jr., to assist with school expenses.
