Maurice was born in London, England. At the age of 6 he was evacuated to Cornwall in south-west England because of the bombing of London during World War II. He later attended chef's school for 3 years at Hitchen School outside of London, finishing his culinary training in Paris, France and London, England. Maurice served in the British Army Culinary Corps for 3 years. In 1961 he emigrated to Montreal, Canada and on to Los Angeles, California. Maurice was the youngest chef to work at the renowned Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, where he worked for 5 years. The next 26 years of Maurice's career were spent as the executive chef of the University Club of Los Angeles.
His retirement years were spent in Hart, Michigan. Maurice is preceded in death by his wife, Annette Toulemon and he is survived by his son Pierre Toulemon of Hart, daughter Lisa and son-in-law, Ernest Campos of California.
