Obituary

Max William Rolph, 85, of Montague, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024. He was born October 13, 1938, in Shelby, the son of Ralph and Florence (Schiller) Rolph.

Max proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1959 until 1961, working with heavy equipment.

Max graduated from Montague High School. After high school, he worked on the farm with his father. After his service in the Army, he worked in construction and went into the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Apprenticeship. He worked as a Pipe Fitter until taking over the Fruit Farm when Shorty passed away.  He farmed for 15 years and then went back to being a Pipe Fitter for West Michigan Plumbers, Fitters, and Service Trades Local Union #174, until he retired.

Max enjoyed hunting, golfing, and in his later years walking through the woods finding shed horns.

Max is survived by: his children, Barbara Walters, Michael (Angie) Rolph, Deborah (Tyler) Clark, Joni (Tim) Barnes, and Jennifer (Wally) Klaus; grandchildren, Laura, Tommy, Bonni, Jamison, Sierra, Austin, Ryanne, Emma, Dillinger, Gillis, and Addison; and great-grandchildren, Julianna, Elijah, Lyle, and Amelia.

Max was preceded in death by: his parents, Ralph and Florence Rolph; and sister, Shirley Burghduf.

In accordance with Max's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
