Merle Duane

March 17, 1943 – January 21, 2025
Merle Duane McLouth, 81, of Montague, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was born March 17th, 1943, at home in Whitehall, the son of Edward and Lucille (Draft) McLouth.
On June 7th, 1963, Merle married Sharon Kroll, and they spent 61 years together.
He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1962. After high school, Merle proudly served our country in the United States Army. After the Army, Merle was employed at Howmet Corporation in a Supervisory role in the Layout Department until his retirement in 2000. He retired after 37 years of employment at Howmet.
Merle had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed working with his hands on projects such as woodworking and restoring antiques. He collected many John Deere items and restored them and proudly displayed them in his yard, which he also took great pride in. He completed the McLouth ancestry/genealogy which can be found at Shelby Library. Merle was also a Ham Radio Operator with the call sign W8OOD.
Merle is survived by: his wife, Sharon McLouth; daughter, Lori McLouth; brother, Gordon McLouth (Annie); brother, Dale McLouth (Joy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Merle was preceded in death by: his parents, Edward and Lucille McLouth; sister, Joyce McLouth (Brooks); and a nephew, Daniel McLouth.
In accordance with Merle's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
