Merry Christine Farmer, 81, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born December 24, 1939, in Mancelona, the daughter of Hubert and Laura (Taylor) Bengtson.  She resided in North Muskegon and Hart, before moving to Whitehall in 1995.

Merry graduated from the Hackley Hospital School of Nursing, working as a Registered Nurse for 10 years.  She supported her husband as an office manager/secretary for several years while he was a leader at State Farm Insurance.  She was a homemaker and volunteer at Hart United Methodist Church and for local blood banks.  She was treasurer for Whitehall United Methodist Church.  Merry enjoyed gardening, sewing, and knitting beautiful items that she gave to her children and grandchildren, and often gifted items to those in need at the church.  Merry was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

On March 4, 1961, Merry married Ronald Farmer, and they spent over 60 wonderful years together. She is also survived by: her children, Amy (Walter Tuchardt) Farmer and Annette (Rob) Thompson; grandchildren, Hunter (Samantha) Christenson, Autumn (Evan) Holzgen, Sky Christenson, Rayne Thompson, Camden Thompson, Gunnar Koenig, Garrett Koenig, Katherine Tuchardt, and Paul Tuchardt; siblings, Carol (Jerry) Thorne and Jacqueline (Jerry) Spierenberg; and sister-in-law, Rudy Bengtson.

Merry was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Steve Bengtson.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 8th, 2021, at The Praise Center of White Lake United Methodist Church, 117 South Division Street, Whitehall, MI, 49461, with Pastor Mike Riegler officiating.
