Mr. Michael John Mahan, age 51, of Hart, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011. He was born April 15, 1960, in Shelby to Melvin and Marie (Herrygers) Mahan. A graduate of Hart High School, Class of 1978, he attended Illinois Tech Institute in Grand Rapids. He was employed at Larson and Son Hardware. Mike married the former Anita Russell on January 30, 2006 in Elbridge. Mike was always cheerful and found the good in life, no matter what the circumstances were. He was always a help to anyone in need. Michael is survived by his wife, Anita; his parents, Mort and Marie; four sisters: Janet (Ken) Klotz, Patricia (Michael) Scofield, Cheryl (Dennis) Gale, Mary Sue Mahan; step-sons, Jeffery Coulier, Jason Coulier; in-laws, Wayne and Gloria Russell, all of Hart; and step-grandson, Jerod Falcon of Manistee. He is also survived by nephews, Chris Klotz, Ryan Klotz, Jason Riggs, Chad Riggs, Jeff Riggs, Greg Gale, and Joshua Mahan; nieces Kendra Prudhomme and Crystal Riley; and beloved dog, Murphy. He was preceded in death by his niece, Meika Riggs. Funeral services for Mr. Mahan will be Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Hart with Rev. Dennis Foley officiating. Visitation will be Friday at King Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the funeral, at the church. Any memorials may be directed to the family for final expenses.
