Obituary

Michael James Moersch, 67, of Whitehall (Formerly of Lansing) passed away suddenly on Friday April 20, 2018.

Mike was born on July 28, 1950 to Frank and Helen (Tretheway) Moersch in Escanaba, Michigan. He graduated from Holy Name High School, class of 1968, and received his bachelor's degree in 1977 from Viterbo College in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Mike was employed for 25 years at the State Prison of Southern Michigan and after retirement worked part-time for the Michigan State University Pharmacy.

Mike proudly served his country as an Army Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam War.

Mike enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He looked forward every year to attending fish and deer camps with his friends in the Upper Peninsula. Mike was known far and wide for his famous Bloody Mary recipe.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary-j Waterstraat; sister, Mary (Robert) Fillion; brothers-in-law, George (Linda), Edward, and Jim (Julie) Waterstraat; sister-in-law, Laurel (Mike) Ullrich; nieces, Tasha (Tom) Oliver, Coleen (Mike) Watson, and Lora Brown; nephews, Brian (Eden) Ullrich, Don (Teresa) Isbell, Dave (Victoria) Ullrich, and Bryan (Marcy) Waterstraat; along with many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-mother Ruby Moersch.

According to his wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing.

Beacon Cremation and Funeral Services-White Lake Chapel will handle the arrangements.
