Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Leone Fishel, age 88, of Hart, MI passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014. She was born on May 14, 1926, in Custer, MI to Emry and Hattie (Morse) Marrison. Mrs. Fishel graduated from Scottville High School Class of 1943 and married Joseph Fishel in Riverton Township on March 7, 1946. For over twenty years, Mildred was employed as a cook for the Hart Public Schools, until her retirement in 1986. Mildred was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hart. As an avid cook and baker, her family will remember her for pie baking, especially apple, pumpkin pie and bread, peach cobbler and doughnuts. She canned many things, especially peaches, mended clothes and even made button holes in garments for other people. Mildred enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, God's nature outdoors and the color tours during the fall months. She will also be remembered for her sharp wit.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 68 years Joseph Fishel of Hart; two daughters, Linda Fishel of White Lake, MI and Lois (Ken) Johnson of Shelby, MI; three sons, Edward (Sylvia) Fishel of Rochester, MN, Andrew Fishel of Holland, MI, and Donald Fishel of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one brother, Leland (June) Marrison of Norton Shores, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maynard and Howard Marrison; and two sisters, Beatrice Riffle and Gladys Laude.

The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of Eternal Life through Jesus Christ for Mildred will be held Friday, October 17, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hart, with Pastor Doug VanderMolen officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the King Funeral Home-Hart and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Habitat for Humanity Oceana County, 186 N. Michigan Avenue, Shelby, MI 49455.
