Monica Mary Karle Carnell was born in Detroit Michigan on December 10, 1930. She went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 17, 2025. She and her sister, Theresa, were placed in an orphanage at a young age, which impacted their lives in many ways. As a young girl, Monica attended Saint Mary's Academy in Monroe, Michigan. As a young adult, she worked at JL Hudsons as well as a local hospital in Detroit. Monica then went to work for the United States Marine Corps in Washington D.C. as a civilian secretary. She lived in Washington D.C. for a good portion of her life. She also lived in Monroe, Michigan from time to time. She married former marine, Dennis Carnell, who proceeded her in death, in the late 1970's. They had no children together. In later years, she lived in Ludington, Michigan. Monica was well known around town by her formal trademark traditional white blouse, black skirt, and unique personality. She was known and loved by the local restaurant staff as well as the bus drivers in town. Monica spent her last years at Grand Oaks Nursing Home in Baldwin, Michigan. She was born into the Karle family and was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters. (Affectionately know as the "Last of the Mohicans.") She is survived by her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced and take place in the spring.
