Muriel May Harwood, 90, of Whitehall, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018. Muriel was born on August 4, 1928, to Harold and Norma Benson.

Muriel was blessed with six children in her life. In 1951, she married Bruce Harwood and together they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until his death in 1997. Muriel was a fur model in her younger years. She worked as the accountant for the family business, Harwood Marine Construction. Muriel enjoyed dancing, preaching, and arranging flowers. She attended Christ the Rock Church and loved the Lord. She was a joyous woman of God who was full of life. She will be deeply missed.

Muriel is survived by: her children, Susan (Clarence) Meyers, Daniel (Marilyn) Durgan, David (Sarah) Durgan, Cynthia (Mitch) Molyneux and Ron Newsom; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Richard) Ceununck; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her, husband Bruce; son, Stephen; parents; brother, Norman; and sister, Jeannie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall, Michigan 49455. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Johnson Cancer Center.
