Myron Winters, 62, of Elk Rapids, Michigan passed away with his loving family by his side. He was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Myron was born in Traverse City, Michigan on August 2, 1960, to his parents, the late Myron G. Winters Sr. and Joyce Winters. Mike and Joyce raised Myron alongside of siblings Judy and Larry through his entire childhood in Elk Rapids. Myron went on to attend Davenport business college in Grand Rapids and then in 1981 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Shortly after joining the Airforce Myron started his family with Laurie Phillips of Elk Rapids. Over his 26 years of service, he traveled the world with his sons, and was stationed at 13 bases in 5 different countries. Myron retired as a Master Sargent in 2007 as a Meteorologist with 26 years of service to his country.
Myron was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He enjoyed many past times such as camping, fishing, gardening, and antique collecting. Myron enjoyed simple things like chopping wood, and stories around the campfire, most of all spending time with his sons playing cards and cribbage. He was a big U of M football fan (Go Blue!) and spent many hours with his mother watching Detroit Tigers baseball. Myron became an integral part of his fathers beloved foundry/bell maker business. Myron was a big help around the house and caring for their mom and dad.
Surviving Myron are his sons, Derek (Caitlin Yamada) of Lewiston Michigan, and Grant Winters of Elk Rapids Michigan, mother Joyce (Wenz) Winters of Elk Rapids, sister Judy (Larry) Masterson of Traverse City, brother Larry (Kathy) Winters of Manistique Michigan, and his many nieces and nephews, and last but not least, his loving dog Chloe.
