Obituary

Myrtle "Dolly" May Strong, 83, of Muskegon, entered the Lord's presence peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025. She was born February 26, 1942 in Harbor Springs, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Bester) Lathrop.

On August 20, 1977, Dolly married the love of her life, Stanley "Joe" Strong, They shared many memories together, including their annual trips to Mesick, where they would hunt for Morel Mushrooms, and their trip to Alaska.

Dolly graduated from Whitehall High School in 1960. After high school, she worked as an Inspector for Howmet, until retiring in 2004.

She was a member of Sheridan Drive Baptist Church where she helped with the ladies' group on different events, was part of the hospitality group and helped with VBS every year. Over the last few years, she attended Wolf Lake Community Church.

She enjoyed camping, spending time with family, and always loved to find a good deal at the local thrift stores. Dolly was known for sending cards for every holiday and to every friend and family member she knew. She loved tea parties with her grandchildren and nieces; she was known for her fancy hats and was a very proud American who loved to go for car rides and see the flag fly high.

Dolly is survived by her sons, John (Rhonda) Greve, Steven (Shawn) Greve, Daniel Greve, David (Melissa) Greve; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Deanna Hall, Rosie Holt, Barbie Lathrop, Cheryl Roberts and Raymond Lathrop; brothers in law, Leonard Strong and David (Sharon) Strong; two sisters in law, Lois (Daniel) Pearce and Mary Ann Justice; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Joe" Strong; son, Mark Greve; and parents, Walter and Myrtle Lathrop.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM until time of service. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461. A private burial will take place in Oakhurst Cemetery, in Whitehall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kids Belong.
