IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Louise
Egeler
August 1, 1938 – December 14, 2021
Nancy Louise Egeler, 83, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at home with her family by her side. She was born August 1, 1938, in Lake Leelanau, the daughter of Orson and Serphine (LaCross) Belanger.
Nancy married Ronald Egeler in August 1956, and they were married 56 years before his passing. She traveled with him internationally and around the United States while he served in the Armed Forces. She worked the night shift while helping establish their Egeler Industrial Waste Business.
Nancy enjoyed cookouts, camping, and entertainment around a big campfire. She loved listening and dancing to her favorite singer and guitar player. Nancy was an excellent cook and made sure all her children knew how to cook. At Christmas time, she made her famous Scotcheroos the way her mother taught her. She cooked up double batches of lasagna (a family tradition) to feed all those who would show up at her house. Nancy looked forward to the times when her children and grandchildren would come to visit and stay for awhile. In her golden years, she loved a good trip to the casino.
Nancy attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. She set an excellent example of the way to live for all of us who were a part of her life. She was an incredible woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by everyone who loved her.
Nancy is survived by: children, Sally (Michael) Winchester of Schoolcraft, Cathryn (Jeffrey) Davidson of Traverse City, Steven Egeler of Traverse City, and David Egeler of Beulah; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Glenwood (Char) Belanger, Sharon (Don) Rohdy, Robert (Sheri) Belanger, and Randy (Patty) Belanger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ron (2012); parents, Orson and Serphine Belanger; in-laws, Herman and Anna Egeler; son, Dennis (2007); grandsons, Daniel Case (2018), Jeffrey Davidson II, and Jesse Davidson; great-grandson, Anthony Case; and siblings, Cletus Belanger and Melvin Belanger.
Memorial services will be conducted in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Food Pantry.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
