Nancy E. Smith, 78 of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at her home with family by her side.

Nancy was born at Millard Philmore Hospital in Buffalo, New York the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret (Horohoe) Brooks, on September 11, 1945.

On July 1, 1967, she married Ralph Smith Jr., who proceeded her in death on April 5, 2009.

Nancy is survived by her sisters Betty (Steve) Tryjankowski & Barbara (Jim) Crist; her brother Albert Brooks.  Nancy is survived by her three children: sons Michael (Shannon) Smith, Matt (Gina) Smith and daughter Shelly Smith; 4 step children: Linda Lee Smith, Debby Wheeler & Tina Marie Erhart.

Her legacy includes grandchildren: Ian (Michelle) Smith, Nathan (Karlin) Smith, Tatianna Smith, Holly Smith, Caleb Smith, Paul Viaene, Jennifer Viaene, Stephanie Cole, Tiffany Cole Melissa Johnson, Frankie Smith Nicol Smith & Amanda Smith.:  Great Grandchildren – Alania, Tucker Audrina, Isabella, Ariel, Christian, Cassey, Briana, Story, Colin, Juliauna, Aaliyah, Madison as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph and her step son William Smith.

Nancy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.  While holding several different careers over the years, her greatest joys were being with her family.

Services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11 AM from Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, 511 S. Garfield Ave., Traverse City, Michigan 49686.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday July 24, 2024, from 6-8 PM.   Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Blair Township, Grawn, Michigan.

Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
