November 15, 1948 – August 27, 2024
Nancy Lu Putnam, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born November 15, 1948, in Shelby, the first daughter of Minard (Mike) and Arlene (Clements) Smith.
On January 27, 1967, Nancy married Steven Putnam. They had two children and spent 57 years together.
Nancy attended Green Elementary and completed high school in Montague. She also attended Muskegon Community College. Nancy worked at Howmet Corporation, in Whitehall, and then worked at S & N Machine until retirement.
Nancy was an excellent wife, mother, and cook (her fried chicken was loved by her family). She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was able to visit almost all fifty states with him. Nancy also enjoyed chaperoning her children's field trips, from staying overnight in the cold, to going to Chicago, off she went!
Nancy is survived by: her husband, Steve; her children, Nichole (Matt) Schermer and Becky (Ben) Putnam; grandchildren, Lincoln and Violet; sisters, Vicki (Ric) Cox, Renee (Dave) VanHouten, and Mary (Paul) VanHouten; and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Minard and Arlene Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2024, at White Lake Baptist Church, 5280 Dowling St, Montague, MI 49437, with Pastor Mark Sterken presiding. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until time of service, following the service, the family invites you to join them for a time of food and fellowship. A graveside service will take place at 12:30 PM, in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Montague.
