October 27, 1928 – July 25, 2017
Dr. Ned D. Krohn, 88, of Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home in Whitehall with close friends and family by his side. He was born October 27, 1928, in Bonnville, Missouri, to Frederick H. and Melva (Howard) Krohn.
Dr. Krohn was a graduate of Kansas City College of Osteopathy & Surgery. In 1953, he married the former Mary Lou Cossette. Together they were blessed with 5 children and 21 years of marriage until her death in 1974. Dr. Krohn married the former Donna Kanaar Smith in 1983, and she preceded him in death in 2015.
Dr. Krohn was self-employed Doctor for 56 years before he retired in 2006. He was a member of the American Osteopathy Association, Michigan AOA, West Michigan AOA, a retired staff member of Mercy Hospital, and served many years as the on field physician for Whitehall High School sports teams. Dr. Krohn was also a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, in Lakewood Club, and a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague.
Ned was a consummate physician professionally and a fix it kind of guy in his off time. He was an inventive dry witted man who never had an unkind word for anyone. Ned was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Dr. Krohn is survived by his 5 children, Michael (Carrie) Krohn, Nedra (Michael) Joseph, Jana Zylstra, Tim Krohn and John (Nicole) Krohn; grandchildren, Julia, Claire, Ben, Katie, Michelle, Jacob, Kyle, Morganne, Chance and Clara; great-grandson, Hunter; and brother, Howard (Dorothy) Krohn.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Lou; second wife Donna; sister, Janet; and brother, Frederick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 1110 Dykstra Rd., Muskegon, with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere officiating. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet guests from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM, on Monday, July 31, 2017, Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service 413 S. Mears Ave. Whitehall, MI 49461, with Prayers of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
