Nels F. Skinner, 71, of Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at home.  He was born July 2, 1947, in Grant, the son of Gerald and Loraine Skinner.

Nels married Ruth Dillabaugh May 10, 1969. Together they were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage and two children. Nels served a total of 27 years in the military: first in the Navy Reserve and most of his time in the Michigan Army National Guard. He was proud to serve his country. He worked at Alcoa/Howmet for over 30 years. Nels enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball, and his cats. He was a faithful, hardworking provider with a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

Nels is survived by: his wife, Ruth; his son, Michael (Ronda) Skinner; his daughter, Cindy "Skinner" Starks; and his grandson, Derek Skinner.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his brother, Roger.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 8, 2019, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, in Whitehall, with Father David Meyers officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the USO or Harbor Hospice.
