Obituary

Nick, son of Raymond and Pamela (Curry) Fouch, of Old Mission Peninsula, was welcomed into Heaven by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Ann Fouch, and maternal grandfather, Morgan L. Curry, in the early morning hours of October 21, 2023.

Nick grew up on Old Mission Peninsula, and it was there that he learned life's most important values and lessons. He was the firstborn, the "apple of his parent's eyes." When Nick turned three, sister Amanda was born. Nick and Amanda enjoyed a lifestyle most kids never get to experience. Growing up on a 30 acre cherry farm, and having Amanda for his sister (who willingly admits that she pestered Nick endlessly) taught Nick patience, love of family, love of nature, the value of hard work, persistence, and how to enjoy life. His formative years were spent primarily with his sister and cousins as "best friends", riding bikes through acres of cherry trees, going on scavenger hunts designed by his mom, working side by side with his dad on the farm, spending hours on the beaches, and pranking his sister by hiding her things to the point of tears or sharing the greatest belly laugh ever.

Nick was an ardent communicator. He could talk your ear off about anything in the world, but somehow world issues always ended with his favorite subjects, a.k.a. cars, snowmobiles, wrestling, and how wrestling was the precursor to expertise in playing any other sport. Nick never stopped trying to convince his godson Cameron about the merits of wrestling. Cameron and Nick enjoyed this constant banter and Nick spent many happy hours attending Cam's games, playing Fantasy Football, Madden, and wrestling with him to try to prove his point. Some of Nick's happiest moments were spent sharing his love of cars and snowmobiles with his dad. The two of them loved working on and riding anything that even had the potential to move or go fast. They spent many weekends at races in the Upper Peninsula and rarely missed a local race.

Nick graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 2001. Following High School, Nick attended Central Michigan University and graduated with majors in Math and Industrial Arts. He loved to build and was meticulous with his projects. While at C.M.U., Nick joined the Pi Kappa Fraternity. He met many life-long friends whom he cherished. His time at C.M.U. was one of the highlights of his life. Upon graduating in 2005, Nick taught Math and Woodshop at Forest Area High School and coached the Wrestling Team. He achieved his Master's Degree in 2016. He loved his work, loved his students and truly cared about their lives. Described as a "Gold Standard" teacher, Nick was generous with his time and modeled his positive attitude in both teaching and coaching. From him, his students also learned that when there was a problem, you assessed it and figured out a plan to fix it.

Nick brought great joy to everyone who knew him. He was quick to laugh, quick to entertain, and quick to show his love for others. He had a kind and generous heart. Nick was registered through the National Donate Life Registry and it was his wish to donate whatever he could to someone in need. Nick's wish was fulfilled by the donation of his eyes upon his passing.

Nick is survived by: his parents, Pam and Ray Fouch; his sister, Amanda (Donnie) Turner; his nephew, Cameron Martin; his maternal grandmother, Kathy Curry; and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. Nick was predeceased by: his grandparents, Howard and Ann Fouch, and Morgan L. Curry; his great grandmother, Grace (Gore) Fouch; his uncle, Morgan V. Curry; and his aunt, Michelle (Curry) Miller.
