Obituary

Mrs. Norma L. Higgins, age 92 of Hart (formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan), passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 after a brief illness. She was born in Sand Lake, Michigan on April 20, 1917 to Lycargus and Irene (Cary) Blackburn. Norma was the widow of Robert J. Higgins, former president of Watson-Higgins Milling Company in Grand Rapids. She initially worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Grand Rapids. She was later employed at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the admitting office before her retirement. Norma's passion in life included baking and reading. She loved to bake and would share her desserts with family and friends. Her main passion was her love of literature. She was an avid reader all of her life. Norma is survived by her 2 sons, Terry Higgins of East Grand Rapids, Michigan and Dr. Michael Higgins of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter, Judy (Joe) Primozich of Pentwater, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Robert Williams and Sarah Williams, both of Pentwater, Dr. Ryan Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kim Anderson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jill (Todd) Petersen of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Amy (Steve) Earl of Ada, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert on April 2, 1995 and a daughter, Mary Ann Anderson on June 12, 1997. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Higgins will be held Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11:30 A.M. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Michigan with Fr. Rock Badgerow officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hart Public Library or the Pentwater Public Library.
