IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Lois
Wallman
April 20, 1925 – June 16, 2024
Norma, better known as Mom or Grandma passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was born on April 20, 1925 in Bluffton, Indiana to Homer and Esta (Yarger) Wolfe.
She married Chancey 'Mike' Wallman on August 22, 1944 in Sturgis, Michigan and had two children, Marcia and Michael. In 1953, they moved to Traverse City to raise their family. Norma first took a job selling dresses at Fashion City and throughout the years held numerous other jobs; bartending at Karlin Inn, ironing for Progress Cleaners, factory work at Essex Wire and Nish-Nah Bee Industries, seamstress for Jiffy Cover Canvas Company and most importantly received her certification as a nurse's aide at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility. Also from 1977-1978 she was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #383 Traverse City. In retirement she continued to do ironings for numerous people until her late 80's. She was not one to rest!
At a very young age, she learned to sew and embroider, making her famous pillows and quilts for anyone she met or had an occasion for. She enjoyed cooking, baking and tending to her full acre garden. She would spend many hot summer days over the stove canning everything her garden provided. No matter where she lived there was always room for a flower garden and the love for her beloved rose bushes. The weekend nights were filled with many laughs and card games. She loved a mean game of Euchre and guess who would always win? Bowling was another love, playing on countless leagues throughout the years.
Her biggest pride was family, especially taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made sure you never went hungry and always had something to do. She was truly the best Grandma you could have ever asked for!
Norma is survived by her stepson, Larry (Judy) Wallman, daughter Marcia (Larry) Titus; son Michael (Diane) Wallman; grandchildren Holly (Chuck) Lindman, Mark (Gloria) Wallman, Connie (Sabina Landt) Titus, Lorie (Brian) McFadden, Susan Titus, Bryan (Jenny) Wallman, Penny (Steve) Fellows, Brooke (Patrick) Gibbard and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert and Jackie Wolfe, daughter-in-law Janet (Coleman) Wallman and her husband Chancey 'Mike' Wallman.
Please join Norma's family on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 11:00am to noon for a visitation followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel. Interment will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow at Faith Reformed Church, 1139 E Front Street, Traverse City.
