Norman Roger Mikkelsen, 80, of Montague, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017.  He was born Oct 7, 1937, in Muskegon, MI.

Norman was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He was a life-time member of the VFW Post #3256. He served at the local post as  Post Commander for many years and was a Past State Honor Guard member and Past Chaplain.  He was currently on the boards of The City of Montague Tax Review and The Muskegon County Veteran's Affairs Board.  He had also served as the Worshipful Master and was a 32nd Degree Mason of Montague-Whitehall Lodge #198.

Norman was a retiree of Sealed Power after which he filled his time working summers at the White Lake Golf Course.  He enjoyed coaching pee-wee football, umpiring baseball, golf, hunting and reading and rarely missed a Montague Wildcat Football game home or away or his grandchildren's activities.

Norman is survived by his children, Wendi Hall, Randall (Letisha) Mikkelsen of Montague, and Jeffery (Fretchie) Mikkelsen of the Philippines; 6 grandchildren, Brittani, Trey, Kiara, Ryu, Kijoo and Valerie; 1 great-grandchild, Sophie; brothers, Richard (Jean) Mikkelsen, and David (Carole) Mikkelsen; sister, Mary Jacobs; brother in-laws Ron (Deb) Arnson,  Howard Arnson; sister in-law Luann (Eric) Chiles; along with many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandra Martin.

He was preceded in death by his wife Valerie; his parents Wilber and Florence (Becker) Mikkelsen; and brother, Donald

A Celebration of Norman's life will be conducted Sunday November 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at The VFW Post # 3256, 9370 Walsh Rd, Montague, MI 49437. The family will receive guests from 1:00PM until the start of the service.
