Obituary

Norman Jerome Wright, 74, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday May 11, 2022.

Norm was a native of Traverse City. Among his many achievements, Norm represented Bertha Vos school as Prince in the Cherry Festival when he was six. Norm attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, graduated high school in 1966, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University in 1971. He taught high school biology for one year and left to start his own landscaping business.

Norm was known around the region as "snake man."  Norm was well known and loved for his educational reptile presentations that he performed at schools and campgrounds

Norm was a talented sculptor who worked with clay as well as wood. He had a fine eye for detail as well as abstract whimsy. He never stopped working and achieved so much. He was liked by everyone who met him. He will be missed.

Norm is survived by: his wife, Patricia; son, Neil; sisters, Brenda and Shana; brother, Todd; as well as niece and nephews, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norm was preceded in death by: his father, Richard Wright; and mother, Charlotte (Whiteford) Wright.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel.  Interment will take place in Acme Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of services.
