Mr. Owen Joseph Battice, age 57, of Custer, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. He was born May 8, 1957, in Flint to Harold and Katherine (Phillips) Battice. He graduated from high school and attended two years of college at Mott Community College in Flint. Owen was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and loved his granddaughters. He also enjoyed walking, hiking in the sand dunes with "Unk", spear fishing, and attending music concerts.
Owen is survived by two sons, Douglas (Amanda Sturgil) Hendrickson of Scottville, Lucas (Breann) Hendrickson of Jackson; two granddaughters, Brooklyn Hendrickson, Breanna Hendrickson; and one grandchild on the way; mother, Katherine Battice; three sisters, Cathryn Battice of Hart, Christine (Tom) Clever of Ada, KS, Cynthia Shewchuck of Ludington; four brothers, Harold Battice II of Muskegon, Howard (Monica) Battice of Ludington, Jeffrey Battice of Manistee, Duane Battice of Lisbon, OH; special uncle, Jerry "Unk" Battice of Ludington; best friend, Julie Hendrickson of Ludington; girlfriend and companion, Victoria Whipple of Ludington; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold James Battice.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Battice will be Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 2:00 pm at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Hart with Jeffrey Battice officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Native American Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Hart. The family requests that any memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
