Pamela Sue Matel
March 27, 1958 – October 15, 2026
Pamela Sue Matel, 68, of Whitehall, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, in her home, surrounded by the love of her children. Though her time here on earth has come to an end, the love, laughter, and memories she leaves behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on March 27, 1958, Pam was welcomed into the loving family of Neil and Naida Koopmans, alongside her brother, Craig Koopmans. She graduated from Union High School with the Class of 1976 and went on to pursue a career as a travel agent. Her work allowed her to explore the world and experience countless adventures, with Africa holding a particularly special place in her heart. Later in life, Pam built a career as a financial advisor, where she worked until her retirement.
Pam was a devoted follower of Christ, and her faith was an important part of who she was. She shared God's love through her kindness, generosity, and the way she cared for those around her.
Anyone who knew Pam knew she was truly one of a kind. She had a vibrant personality, a little sass, a wonderfully goofy sense of humor, and a heart full of love. Her warm smile could light up a room, and her laughter had a way of making even the simplest moments memorable. She had a special love for animals, treasured time spent with family and friends, and never let a little rain, snow, or below freezing temperatures stand between her and enjoying a good time. Pam lived life with a personality all her own, and those who loved her wouldn't have had it any other way.
Above all else, Pam's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Max and Marissa, and a proud Grammy to her twin grandchildren, Parker and Olivia. The love she had for them was immeasurable, and the memories they shared will forever be among the greatest gifts she leaves behind.
While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Pam is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Her laughter, her sass, her smile, and the unconditional love she gave will remain with us always.
Until we meet again. Love you more.
