Patrick "Jim" James Acre, 82, of Buckley, died Friday, March 8, 2024, in Traverse City. He was born March 8, 1942, in Elberta, the son of William and Marion (Summerfield) Acre.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as an aircraft mechanic for F8U Crusader aboard the USS Oriskiny. On August 14, 1965, Jim married Harriett Elaine Wilson of Buckley. He was employed by TWA in Kansas City, MO, while also earning his private pilot's license. Jim and Harriett then decided to move back to Michigan where he was employed as a truck driver for 25 years before retiring in 2004. During this time, he was a member of The Tabernacle in Buckley and served faithfully in many capacities for over 40 years up until his final days.
Jim loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed attending special events and sporting events for his grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor and his warmth in welcoming everyone that he met.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Harriett; his children, Kelly (Earl) Hocquard of Fenton, Marcy (Edward) Pearson of Kingsley, and Steve (Michelle) Acre of Kingsley; grandchildren, Debby (Adam) Smyth, Andrew (Veronica) Fay, Jessica (Chris) Paul, Joshua (Aurelia) Hocquard, Jake (Hailey) Pearson, Jennifer (Caleb) Underhill, Jeffrey Pearson, James Pearson, Jon Pearson, Patrick (Meghan) James Acre, Miranda Acre, and Luke Acre; great-grandchildren Luke Smyth, Ophelia Pearson, Ezra Pearson, Jasper Pearson, Santino Fay, Isabella Fay, Koen Acre and Elias Underhill; siblings, Millie (Doug) Salensky, Tom (Marlene) Lhamon, Tim (Rena) Lhamon, Jeff (Theresa) Lhamon and Ernie (Tina) Lhamon.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ernest Lhamon; sister, Patricia Youker and brother William (Billy) Lhamon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2024, at The Tabernacle, in Buckley, with Pastor John Vermilya officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Tabernacle.
