Paul Joseph Lajko, 82, of Kingsley, died Monday, August 23, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born July 2, 1939 in Detroit, the son of Paul S. and Irene (Balazs) Lajko.
Paul was a 1958 graduate of Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan. After a year of Olivet College, he joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving our country as an Air Medic, from 1959-1963. On August 22, 1964, Paul married the love of his life, Maureen Smyth at St. Norbert Parish in Inkster, Michigan. In 1972, they moved to their forever home in Kingsley, where they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Paul retired from Munson Medical Center in 2000 after 25 years as an X-Ray Technician.
Paul is survived by: his wife Maureen and their three children, Mary Lajko, Margaret Lajko-Lee (Chris Lee), and Robert Lajko (Beth). Surviving grandchildren are: Megan Girard (Andy), Chelsea Boeve (Layton), Tyler Lajko (Maire), Emma Lajko, Max Lajko, Austin Lee, Cameron Lee, and great-grandchildren, Liam, Ava, Claire, Greta, and Ren Girard.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 630 S. West Silver Lake Road, Traverse City, with the Reverend Gerald Okoli celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. A luncheon will be immediately served after Mass at St. Patrick's. Following the luncheon, interment will take place at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Cemetery in Kingsley at 2:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingsley Friends of the Library Community Foundation and St. Judes Children's Research Hospital .
