IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Gerard
Rolewicz Sr.
April 19, 1947 – February 23, 2018
Paul Gerard Rolewicz Sr., age 70, was peacefully received into God's arms on Friday, February 23, 2018. Paul was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 19, 1947 to Harry and Lucille Rolewicz.
In July of 1971, Paul married Joan Luttrull. Together they were blessed with 46-7/12 years of marriage, 5 children, and 14 grandchildren. Paul served his country proudly for almost 29 years. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Navy. He later served in the Michigan Army National Guard for close to 25 years, which included a 2004-2005 tour of duty in Iraq, and the rank achievement of Command Sergeant Major of the 507 th Engineer Battalion. He was also employed as a Lab Supervisor for Hackley Hospital, the Muskegon County Health Department, and the Muskegon County Wastewater Treatment Facility. Paul was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague, St. John the Baptist in Claybanks, and Our Lady of the Assumption in Rothbury. He enjoyed occupying his time watching his Chicago sports teams, humanely foiling the constant onslaught of "yard squirrels", working on and driving his MG, and keeping up with the yard work and house work. Above all, Paul was extremely dedicated to his family, always placing them above everything else. He was an extremely regular attendee at his grandchildren's events, and always made time in his schedule to help his children and grandchildren whenever it was needed. He was also a devout Catholic who cherished his weekly hour of prayer in the adoration chapel for 17 years. Paul was a very strong-willed man who believed in giving back and serving others. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Paul is survived by his wife Joan; children, Rebecca (Scott) Pider, Paul (Sheryl) Rolewicz Jr., Theresa (James Brondstetter) Cederquist, Stephen (Jenni Degen) Rolewicz and Mark (Holly) Rolewicz; grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb, Noah, Sara, Tony, Sam, Ben, Lucy, Kaydan, Kendal, Grace, Claire, Ashten, Joey, Kaden and Ethan; brothers, Fr. Richard Rolewicz and Dr. Thomas (Pat) Rolewicz; and sisters-in-law, Janet and Chrysi Rolewicz; and somehow an oddly "adoptive stepson", Ryan Foster.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry Jr. and Peter Rolewicz; and sister Anita George.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11am on Monday, March 5 th , 2018 at St. James Catholic Church 5149 Dowling St. Montague with Fr. Peter Omogo officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives for a time of visitation at the church on Sunday evening March 4 th from 4-6pm with a rosary being prayed at 6pm. Additional visitation will precede the burial service at 10am on Monday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of a contribution toward the funding of water wells via a single group donation in Paul's name, through Joan, to the Samuel Omogo Foundation which was very special to Paul.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, in Whitehall, is in charge of arrangements.
