Obituary

Pauline Marie Steiger, 88, of Pentwater, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born July 2, 1930, in Farmington Hills, MI, the daughter of Rudolph and Elizabeth (Dueball) Nauss.

On June 25, 1949, a hot summer day, Pauline married the love of her life, Frank G. Steiger.  Pauline and Frank met in Hell, Michigan, as young teens, which was always good for a laugh. She was a devoted Detroit policeman's wife to Frank, who preceded her in death August 4, 2014.

Pauline is survived by: her children, Sandra (Walter) Wierzbicki, Laura (Dave) Gillis, and Gayle (Allan) Nelson; grandchildren, David (Jeaninne) Wierzbicki, Mark (Deanna) Wierzbicki, Michael Gillis, Paula Gillis, and Katie Metts; great-grandchildren, Thomas Wierzbicki, Madison Wierzbicki, Ava Wierzbicki, and Luke Wierzbicki; and numeorus nieces and nephews.  Pauline was the loving grandmother to her Metts and Nelson step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  Her heart was always welcoming to her extended family and friends.

Pauline was a very creative person; she loved painting, knitting, cooking, gardening, and singing in the choir.  She and Frank were the co-founders of Lighthouse Lutheran Church.  They found their Paradise in 1958 when they first camped on the sandy shores of Pentwater State Park.  Seventeen years later they made their forever home in Pentwater.

Her daughters would like to thank the many friends that allowed her to stay in her home.  A special thanks to our friend (family) Joe Mack for over 70 years of friendship.

Private family interment will take place in Pentwater Township Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Pauline will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Lighthouse Lutheran Church with a reception to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Lutheran Church, 8786 US-31 Business, Pentwater, MI 49449

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
