Obituary

Phillip David Ruschkewicz age 79, of Ludington, met his Savior peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Dr. Chris Jarrett and close friends on February 18, 2015. Phil was born January 30, 1936 son of the late Phillip and Dorothy (Chatfield) Ruschkewicz. He graduated from Freesoil High School, served in the U.S. Navy and married Mary Wyers on June 18, 1960 in Pontiac, MI at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Phillip graduated from the Federal Aviation Academy which led him to an exciting career as an Air Traffic Controller and instructor at the Chicago Air Traffic Control Center in Aurora, IL. He retired in 1989. He and his wife Mary then moved to Ludington in 1993 to open and operate their business, the Allied Home Mortgage Capital Corporation serving as bankers and brokers until retiring in 2009. Phil pursued his life with passion and a genuine concern for others. He was a mentor and friend who touched many lives and brought out the best in those who knew him. Phil will be remembered by many for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Surviving to cherish his memory and kind spirit are his wife of nearly 55 years, Mary, of Ludington, MI; son, Shane and his sons, Jordan and Justin along with Jordan's sons, Jayce and Kevin all of Ludington, MI. He is also survived by his son John (Lisa) and their children, Jonathan and Taylor of Naperville, IL; his sisters, Bonnie (Ron) Rathbun of Scottville, MI, and Dolores Dombrouski of Petoskey, MI; and his brother-in-law, Bob Dombrouski of Fountain, MI; sister-in-law, Anne Marie (Armand) Gervais of Aurora, Il, Harry (Linda) Linden of Yorkville, Il who are also part of our family, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Phil's life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at his beloved church, Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ludington, MI. Final interment will take place in the Ruschkewicz family plot at Pere Marquette Cemetery in Ludington.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family who together will decide which charity to donate to in memory of Phil. Anyone wishing to write an uplifting remembrance of Phil is encouraged to do so and mail it to his residence by April 20th 2015 for placement in the booklet being made in his memory.
