Phillip Louis Weinand

August 2, 1932 – March 25, 2024

Phillip Louis Weinand, 91, entered eternal life peacefully on Monday, March 25,2024 with his wife at his side at Springvale Assisted Living, Swartz Creek, MI where he had been residing since November.  Phillip was born August 2, 1932 to George and Rose Weinand of East Detroit. He graduated from East Detroit High School. Phil served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. After returning home, he met his wife, Veronica (Ronnie) (Fox) from Amherstburg, Ontario and they shared their life and love through the years. Phil was a resident of Detroit, while proudly serving as a Detroit Police Officer, retiring after 26 years. He also retired from Detroit Receiving Hospital after working as head of Security for 16 years. Phil relaxed at his home in Kingsley, Michigan for 25 years while enjoying his yard and garden, family, and friends. Phil never slowed down and worked until he was in his 80's, finishing out as a custodian at their local church. Phil always worked hard and was an example to his family. He was a dedicated and loving father. He enjoyed the outdoors and his plants and flowers while participating in the Traverse City Home & Garden tours. Phil always had a soft heart for strays from people to animals. He was always involved with his church and worked to share the gospel in his daily living and in helping anyone. Phil is loved and will be missed. He was an inspiration to all he met.

Phil was married to his lifetime love, Veronica (Ronnie) (Fox) for 68 years. He was preceded indeath by his parents (George and Rose), and son, Douglas. Loving father of Debra (Steven)Miller, of Alvin, Texas, David (Patricia), of Kingman, Arizona, Dennis (Sue) of Grand Blanc,Michigan, and Denise (Robert) of Kingsley, Michigan. Grandfather to Natalie, Jennifer (Nathan),Rachel, and Bryan (Becky). Great grandfather to Conner, Gino, Riley, Chase, Tyler , and Trevor. Dear brother to Mercel (Walter) Graham, George (Monika), Thomas (the late Donna), and James (the late Eileen). Uncle to many treasured nieces and nephews.

Please join us for a memorial service to celebrate Phil's life on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at noon at Kingsley Baptist Church, 7511 Blackman Road, Kingsley, MI 49649.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
