Obituary

Mrs. Phyllis Elaine Greiner, age 79, of Hart, loving mother of six beautiful, awesome girls, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015. She was born December 24, 1935, in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Mildred (Hocking) Graham. She was graduated from high school and married Melvin Greiner on September 17, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare. They were married thirty six years before his passing in 1989. Phyllis was a homemaker to her husband and six daughters. She was employed as a hostess at the Gibbs Country House Restaurant in Ludington. Then later she was employed at FMB Bank in Hart. Phyllis enjoyed her gathering time with friends whether through Meals on Wheels, the Friendship Center in Pentwater or her lunch meal at the Oceana County Council On Aging Senior Center. She also enjoyed her Florida friends too. Phyllis was an avid reader, flower gardener, enjoyed singing, being outdoors on the deck and wine tasting trips. She was also known for her awesome bread which the girls always enjoyed after getting home from school.

Phyllis is survived by five daughters, Scheryl (Don Ford) VanDenHeuvel of Hart, Sheila (Neale) Slocum of Palmer, AK, Sandy Greiner of Hart, Stacy (Chuck) Sutton of Portage, Sharon (Ron) Clark of Mears, son-in-law, Rick Story of Melbourne, FL; fourteen grandchildren, Jenny (Brent) Jones, Karla (Jeremy) Swihart, Erin (Don) Hicks, Jeremy (Tara) Ford, Kelly (Blue) Price, Erin Slocum, James Slocum, Andy (Cassandra) Hodges, James (Meredith Mikulich) Hodges, Lea Hodges, Jamie (Brian) Lindgren, Josh Brown, Lindsey Brown, Dustin Clark; twelve great-grandchildren, Timothy, Bronx, Jersey, Tressa, Trenton, Tristyn, Charlotte, Payton, Fisher, Archer, Abby, and Alex; one sister: Judy (Leo) Garlock of FL; niece and nephews, Cheralee Burnett, Scott Garlock and Steve Garlock. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Greiner; daughter, Sue Story in 2010; and one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Hicks in 2012.


A Celebration of Life for Phyllis will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 1-3 PM at the Oceana Eagles, 4535 N. Oceana Drive, Hart.
