Phyllis Joyce Potter, 86, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 surrounded by her family.  She was born January 20, 1931, the daughter of Gale and Marie (Westrate) Schilleman.

In 1953, Phyllis married Russell Potter and together they were blessed with 2 children and 53 years of marriage until his death in 2006.

Phyllis' dedication as a military wife enabled her to touch the lives of many people during her career as a registered nurse. She was extremely devoted to her country and family. Phyllis enjoyed dancing, playing cards, reading, taking care of others, and entertaining. Most of all she enjoyed being a mom and grandma. She was a selfless, strong, intuitive, caring individual who will be deeply missed.

Phyllis is survived by: her son, Bruce (Jan) Potter and Brian (Lisa) Potter; grandchildren, Hope (Matt) Barnes, Hannah (Jake Grinwis), Dillon, McKenzie (Nick Anderson), and Kara; brother, Roger (Sherry) Schilleman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents; and brothers, Bryce and Jay.

Memorial Services will be conducted at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall, on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2pm with Pastor Tom Beeghly officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
