November 24, 1939 – December 9, 2020
Ralph James Florenski was born on November 24, 1939, in Charlevoix, Michigan, and died December 9, 2020, in Petoskey, Michigan, following a short illness. He was the son of Stanley and Frances (Prawdzik) Florenski.
He is survived by his children: Brian Florenski (Diane) (Boyne Falls, Michigan), Charlene Morris (Vanderbilt, Michigan), Joseph Florenski (Scot Holmes) (Columbus, Ohio), Edward Florenski (Jennifer) (Boyne Falls, Michigan), Stanley Florenski (Indian River, Michigan), and Margaret Robinson (Jon) (Traverse City, Michigan). Survivors also include 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and his brothers Ronald Florenski and Richard Florenski, brother-in-law Bill Sparks, and sisters Patricia Jarema, Bonnie Sparks, and Susan Florenski. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert Florenski and Rudolph Florenski, sister Mary Florenski, his brother-in-law John Jarema, and granddaughter Angeline Parrott.
He graduated from Boyne City High School and served in Germany in the United States Army in the early 1960s. He documented his trips on leave throughout Europe in photographs that are cherished by his children. He worked for Mullett Township in Cheboygan County for over twenty years before retiring. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, ice fishing, mushrooming, and playing horseshoes.
A private memorial will be held at a future date. As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be sent to Cheboygan Council on Aging for the Meals on Wheels Program 1531 Sand Road Cheboygan, MI 49721
