IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randolph "Randy" Dean
McLean
June 6, 1953 – March 26, 2026
Randy McLean (Sr.) 72, of St.Ignace hung up his tool belt for the last time on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a small piece of the world built with his own two hands. A builder by trade and a storyteller by heart. Randy believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right. He was born in Flint, Michigan and later grew up in St.Ignace where he, along with his wife, Sheryl eventually settled to raise their family.
Randy’s life story was one of resilience and commitment. He believed that kindness is a great strength and that a good name is more valuable that riches. He never met a stranger, and his sense of humor and laughter left you with a smile. If you were his wife, you were the love of his life. If you were his child, you were a proud glimmer that lit up his eyes with a smile. If you were his grandchild, you were a braggable story. If you were his dog, you were thoroughly spoiled. If you were his friend, you were family.
Randy enjoyed nature, he loved to fish and hunt, he loved a good game of 3-ball or cribbage, he loved music, he loved sports-Go Lions!-and you could always find him tinkering or building something from a bird house to a keepsake, wooden wheelbarrow for each of his grandchildren.
Randy will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Sheryl McLean of 55 years. His children, Sharon Kaminsky, Randy (Amy) McLean, and Bill (Melissa) McLean. His grandchildren, Lily McLean, Reece McLean, Logan McLean, Taylor McLean, and Magnus Kaminsky. His dog Mac (a.k.a. “Brown Dog.”) His brothers, Clinton (Jessica) McLean and Calvin McLean.
A toast to and a story of life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, hug your loved ones a little tighter, give your dog an extra treat, build something for fun, take a walk in the woods, and continuing sharing stories.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
