IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond "Pete"
Alexander Bernoske
September 29, 1946 – September 20, 2018
Raymond "Pete" Alexander Bernoske, 71, of Ludington, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. Ray was born on September 29, 1946, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
He graduated from Ludington High School class of 1966. Ray proudly served his country while stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1968. Raymond was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist E4, United States Army. He then spent two years working on the Ludington Car Ferries as a coal passer to the fireman. From there, Raymond started his life long career reconditioning cars. The first eight years he worked with C.W. Smith & Son of Scottville. He then moved on to Urka Auto Center where he worked as part of their team for just under thirty-one years before retiring on his birthday in 2011. Ray always had a fondness for older vehicles. He purchased a 1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Coup and entered it in over twenty antique car shows earning numerous awards over the seventeen years he owned it. He enjoyed taking it for leisurely rides and especially delighted in riding in the Ludington Fourth of July parades. Ray has always been an Elvis fan. He was able to see several Elvis tribute shows and visited Graceland. Over the years he gathered an extensive collection of memorabilia; but it was always the music he loved the most. He enjoyed working outdoors and was always the giving kind; helping out where and when he could. August of 2018 was his thirtieth year volunteering to safely park vehicles at the Ludington Boat Club fish boil and fry in support of Hospice of Michigan. Rain or shine he never missed a single year. He was a MSU Spartan fan all the way.
His gentle soul will be sorely missed by: his half-sister, Georgia (Smith) Battice; half-brother, Thomas Keith II; half- sister and her husband, Jacqueline (Keith) and Gerard Fellows; half-brother, Kim Keith and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Ray was preceded in death by: his step-father, Thomas Keith Sr.; mother, Kathryn (Maltby) Keith, sister, Susan (Bernoske) Tallefson and her son-in-law, Norman Battice.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, with Father Mick Shriver officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
Those who wish to remember Ray with a memorial donation are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan in support of all they do for others.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
