Mr. Rex J. Fielding, age 88, of Pentwater, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was born December 23, 1926, in Slick, OK to James and Fannie (Kelly) Fielding. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Rex was a lifetime member and past Commander of the Pentwater VFW Post 6017. On October 16, 1954, Rex married Cora I. Grondsma at the First Baptist Church in Pentwater; they were married sixty years. He was employed with Exxon Oil for thirty-nine years as a Well Pumping Technician, retiring in 1986. Rex tremendously enjoyed being active with the Boy Scouts and coaching youth in basketball.
Rex is survived by his wife, Cora I. (Grondsma) Fielding; three children, Jim Fielding of Pentwater, Donna Potter of Kingsley, Troy (Bonnie) Fielding of Auburn, IN; three grandchildren, Kristin (Davin) Schultz of Austin, TX; Logan Fielding of Kalamazoo, Jacob Fielding of Coldwater; three sisters, Dorothy (Marvin) Kilgore of CA, Fay (Lloyd) Gordon, Jr. of TX, Barbara (Jerry) Roberson of OK; one brother, Bob (Dorothy) Fielding of TX; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Ray Fielding; and one sister, Doris McDonald.
The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the Gift of Eternal Life through Jesus Christ for Mr. Fielding will be Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pentwater with Pastor Mark Lillie officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
